Here’s the t-shirt we’ll be giving away with the RavenHunt contest. It’s modeled by our very own Alyson Woods. The color of the t-shirt is “slate” and it’s made by American Apparel, so it will be super comfy.

Sometimes there are ideas, and then sometimes there are ideas that just have to be made. Over what I can only assume were geek beers, the idea for Purr was born and as of today can be obtained from the iTunes Music Store.
Designed by our Guru of Everything™ Scott Holdren, the Purr application for your iPhone or iPod Touch gives you the ability to pet your cat. Yup, you read that right, pet your cat. If you are ever away from home and just feel the need to pet your cat, Purr hooks you up with not only a picture ...

Get real-time election results on Nov. 4! Watch the electoral vote count and the congressional balance of power with the national U.S. map or choose a state and see how individual counties are voting. As soon as either McCain or Obama is declared the winner, you’ll know!

This year at BarCamp Nashville, I presented on how to make Google your prison slave. One of the concepts I talked about was the idea of capturing a competitor’s traffic through the use of product review websites. There are three key elements to this approach:
Keyword centric domain name
Reviews include good details and images of the competitor’s products
Every review includes a "Recommendations" section at the end, comparing and linking to your product page
The best way to create a site like this is to make sure it looks professional. You may want to consider building it on WordPress and then using a ...

My alma mater is a pretty popular place these days. The second 2008 Presidential debate is being held next week at Belmont University, which is just blocks from our offices at Sitening. There was word on the street that an amazing feat of temporary technology infrastructure was being built just around the corner, so I had to take a peek. Jason and I got a fantastic tour of everything being brought in and built for the event. Let’s just say the Belmont debate is as good as telecommunications gets. Fiber everywhere. Over 500 dedicated land lines. Generators to run the ...

Straight off the heels of Pam’s Dwight Shrute’s ASCII portrait (from The Office in case you’re too good to watch TV), comes ASCII spam. I’m not suggesting that email spam has never used ASCII, but never so ambitious as this. Even the URL is ASCII, making you work even harder to buy Viagra or Cialis illegally.

Here at Sitening there are a few thing we are passionate about. Search engine optimization. Clean design. Awesome content management tools. Oh, and coffee. Lots and lots of coffee. So what’s the solution for a bunch of nerds who think coffee is a food group? Get the most high tech coffee maker money can buy.
That’s right, we went iCup. Or the Starbucks Interactive Cup Brewer if you’re a fan of the formalities. This thing is the Ferrari of coffee machines. It’ll brew a single cup. It’ll brew and entire carafe. For the odd birds such as myself who drink half ...

Every week at Sitening we have a staff meeting where we all gather in our conference room and talk about the different projects that everyone is working on and how things are looking for the company. When I sat down at the table this morning, I noticed someone had left October’s Esquire out for us to see. You know, the one with e-ink. E-ink? Yeah, don’t worry, I had to look it up too. The e-ink displays, sponsored by Ford and their new SUV model Flex, are included in 100,000 copies of the magazine. From Cnet.com:
Neither Esquire, Ford, nor E-Ink ...

It still amazes me how old school thinking (mainly about copyright) still interferes with the ability to allow fans to advertise for you. The most powerful and cost-effective form of advertising on the Internet today is user generated marketing. Anytime you can get — or in this case allow – users to market your services for you, you’ve hit paydirt.
AMC had the fortune of having fans create Twitter accounts that mimic the characters on their show Mad Men (which is one of the best dramas on television right now). Accounts were created for characters like Don Draper and Peggy Olsen. ...

I recently found these stencil based images on a small power box by the sidewalk, about a block away from our office. For all technical purposes, this is illegal art. However, unlike tagging, which is the equivelant of a human dog marking their territory with something that adds no cultural value (imo), this was actually intriguing and somewhat thought provoking.
Similar to a mural, these stenciled images seem to present a story (possibly random). It transformed an otherwise boring green box into an abstract message. I’m curious to know how other people feel about this. Do you see it as an ...
